Frequently asked questions

Is this tool really free?
Yes. Every tool on this site is free, with no account or sign-up required.

Are my files uploaded to your servers?
No. All processing happens in your browser, so your files never leave your device.

What is a point, and why is the measurement exact?
PDF coordinates are measured in points: 1 point is exactly 1/72 of an inch, so a distance in points converts to millimetres and inches without any calibration.

Real distances, not screen guesses

Measure reads true distances off a PDF page. Click two points and read the distance in points, millimetres, centimetres or inches. One point equals 1/72 of an inch. The distance comes from the PDF page itself, not from how large it looks on your screen.

Click two points, read the number

Flip to the page you want, then click two points on it. The distance shows below. Click again to start a new measurement. Zoom in first when the points must land exactly.

What measurement is not

It measures the PDF page as stored, not a printed copy. Print scaling and screen size do not change the result, because the distance is read from the page itself.
