Converting PDF pages into images turns each page into a picture. The picture looks the same, but the text is no longer selectable or searchable. Going the other way, images become pages of a PDF, which is handy for scans and photos but does not make the text searchable either. For searchable text, use the OCR tool instead.
PNG keeps sharp text and lines and is the best choice for documents and screenshots. JPG makes smaller files and suits photos. If the output looks fuzzy, raise the quality setting and convert again. A second run costs nothing but a few seconds.
Does converting keep text selectable?
No. PDF pages become images, and images become image pages. Text is not selectable after either direction.
Which format should I pick?
PNG for sharp text and lines, JPG for smaller photo files.
Can I convert a scanned PDF into searchable text?
Not with this tool. Use the PDF to Word tool with OCR for that.
